Today we returned to the retreat for more talk of love.
We shared some marriage advice on a slip of paper, which was our ticket for breakfast.
Our Advice after 15 years of marriage:
"Never got to bed angry."
"Spiritual + Emotional Connection= Physical Connection (aka sexual intimacy)."
"Communication is key if you want sexual intimacy."
"Focus on what your spouses needs and voice what you need to your spouse."
We enjoyed our breakfast in a new spot...around a campfire with a waterfall feature in the background and picked up where we had left off in our workbook last night. We shared feelings, not what men love to do, but it was really amazing to see my husband open up.
By the way...when a man share feelings, it is not a sign of weakness. It's a sign of strength and genius. He knows that if he connects with his wife emotionally and spiritually he will have an extra hop in his step the next day and strength to conquer the dragons before him.

After breakfast we were able to attend one class before having to take on the soccer fields with our children. The class was given by a marriage counselor and his wife. They talked about, "The Five Love Languages"by Dr. Gary Chapman...
- Words of Affirmation
- Physical Touch
- Giving Gifts
- Acts of Service
- Quality Time
Today, I learned my husband's love languages and he learned mine. It was an eye opening experience for us both and we made a commitment to focus on each others love language and communicate our needs more openly.
I am grateful for my husband for taking time away from work to focus on strengthening our marriage. We had a rough patch this past year, but we are now on an upswing towards greater happiness and love. If there is one thing we took away from this retreat it would be...Our journey in this life and forever is definitely BETTER TOGETHER!
